This guide will show you how to download all of the files on the Desktop Theme page and how to install them into your computer.

Select one of the following for directions:

Mouse Cursors
Mouse Cursors are the small images that move with the mouse, like the arrow and hourglass. 

This option is currently unavailable on Mac OS 8, or I just haven't looked hard enough for it. If you find it, e-mail coolcaz

Program Icons
Icons are the images found on your programs, folders, and other files on your computer. 
    Directions
  1. Load the picture file you want for an icon, and copy it to the clipboard
  2. Select the icon you wish to change
  3. Click on File on the toolbar and drag down to Get Info
  4. Select the current icon in the top left hand corner
  5. Select Paste from the Edit menu If you need more help, e-mail coolcaz

Wallpaper
Wallpaper is the image seen in the background of the Mac OS 8 desktop. It can be changed by doing the following:
 
 
    Directions
  1. Save the picture file to your hard drive
  2. Click on the Apple icon on the toolbar
  3. Drag down to select Control Panels
  4. Move to the right, and drag to select Desktop pictures
  5. Click on the Pictures button in the left of the window
  6. Click on Select Picture... at the bottom right hand side
  7. Select Desktop from the pull down menu, and locate your picture file
  8. Click open
  9. Select positioning from pull-down menu and choose whichever option looks best
  10. Click Set Desktop

Wav Sounds
Wav Sounds are the things you hear when you open and close Windows, open windows, display an error message, etc...
 
 
    Directions
  1. Click on the Apple icon on the tool bar
  2. Drag down to select Control Panels
  3. Move to the right, and drag to select Monitors & Sound
  4. Click on the Alerts button
  5. Click on add and record the sound
  6. Click save and choose a name for the sound
  7. Select your new sound from the list and double click to preview it
  8. Play around with the Sound Input menu in Sound to record sounds from other places (I haven't figured this out yet, I can only record new sounds by singing to my computer!)

Startup/Shutdown Screens
These are the images you see when you startup and shutdown your computer and don't exist on Mac OS 8. Sorry.
